Carburation and intake

The intake system of a 50cc scooter, motorcycle or moped is composed of four elements. The incoming air is filtered by an air filter and then enters the carburetor to be mixed with the fuel, which in the case of a two-stroke engine is a mixture of fuel and oil. The resulting air/fuel mixture is then fed from the carburetor to the reed valve via the intake manifold. This valve controls the amount of mixture that enters the cylinder, where it is then used for the actual combustion process.

The intake system is the first and therefore one of the most important components of an internal combustion engine and should be in top condition at all times. A clean air filter is a prerequisite, and all other components must also be adapted to the engine.
So if, for example, the displacement of the vehicle is increased, the engine will use more mixture for combustion, so a larger carb is needed.

In our online store, we offer air filter foam inserts made of high-quality foam as well as air filter boxes, either straight from the OE manufacturer or in OEM quality. For high-performance tuning projects, there is a large selection of sport and racing pod air filters that provide even very heavily tuned engines with sufficient air.

Our huge selection of main and pilot jets and other carburetor accessories allow you to find and adjust the optimal carburetor setting for your setup.

Intake manifolds also come in many shapes, diameters and materials. The mostly metal intake manifolds and matching rubber adapters can be purchased individually or together. In addition, there are also complete intake kits with intake manifold, intake rubber and reed valve plus gasket.

The final component of the intake tract is the reed valve with reed petals. We carry many OEM quality spare parts, but if you want to tune your engine there are also racing valves, big valve kits and reed valve spacers from:

Reed petals are available in different materials: steel (original), fibre or carbon, which are recommended for tuning projects.
