Stage6 R/T Oversize CVT für Piaggio

Stage6 R/T Oversize CVT Piaggio (NRG / Typhoon) - part of the Oversize CVT kit by Stage6 and best used with the matching oversize torque drive. Enlarged "oversize" CVT systems have become popular for race engines since they extend the range of the transmission and provide improved power transmission.

Advantages of Stage6 Oversize CVT

The roller tracks were optimized for use with R/T engines, for 6 roller weights (19x15.5mm - 3.5g). Shifting and rev characteristics are smoothed and even, acceleration at all speeds is improved. CNC-machined high-precision angles are then given a special ceramic coating that preserves surface characteristics for extended life expectance and optimum grip. Blast cleaning, as is customary for steel pulleys, is not necessary; it only becomes necessary when the coating shows noticeable signs of wear. The centre area of the ramp plate was reinforced and the sintered bushing provides makes for optimal lubrication.

Installation and Compatibility of Stage6 R/T variator

The variator is equipped wit 6 roller weights (19x15.5mm - 3.5g) and comes with a special R/T fan wheel (plastic, removable, for example for drag races) and a reinforced racing torque spring. Special variator holding tools can be purchased separately.

It's perfectly fine to use this oversized vario with standard torque drivers, but to unlock its full potential, we strongly recommend using it with the Stage6 R/T oversize torque drive and oversize drive belt.

Note: To use the variator for Stage6 R/T long-stroke crankshafts with 16mm stub, you'll have to also get the shim washer S6-56140ET017, the CVT sleeve S6-56140ET015 und the ramp plate S6-56140ET011.

scooter CVT

Modern scooters are equipped with a continuously variable transmission, the so-called CVT, also called variator.

CVT Parts:

Front pulley, movable. It contains the variator weights and has a special shape with an inclined surface to allow the V-belt to move freely up and down.
Ramp plate: Holds the weights in place.
Variator sleeve: Serves as a bearing for the variator, which moves axially back and forth, i.e., opens and closes.
CVT roller weights: Adjustment weights that play a critical role in function and performance.

original, Sport and Oversize CVTs

Original: Original or OEM quality CVTs are equipped with a restrictor to limit the speed to 45km/h. There are riders who remove the restrictor to derestrict their scooter and unleash the full performance without restrictions.
Sport: Sport CVTs are lighter than the original and are characterized by special angles and a special coating, which increases the top speed, but especially acceleration.
Oversize: Based on the same principle as the Sport CVT, but has larger dimensions. With an oversize / overrange vario, the performance of the scooter can be increased even further.

You should also always replace the V-belt when replacing the CVT or go for a complete CVT kit.
