Exhaust - Design and function

Exhaust systems are used to evacuate the exhaust gases that are produced during combustion. Original exhausts are restricted so they are road-legal (homologation) so they can be used on public roads. For two-stroke tuning, so-called expansion chambers have become the go to tuning pipe; fresh gas that has exited the cylinder is pushed back into the cylinder by way of a gas wave resulting from the previous cycle, which leads to better cylinder filling and thus more power.

Original exhausts are slim and look inconspicuous, the sound is muffled by a silencer. These systems limit maximum speed because the exhaust is restricted. Tuning exhausts consist of four parts: Headpipe, a body usually welded from several thin metal cones, a connecting pipe (also called stinger) and a silencer. As a rule of thumb, shorter exhaust systems favour high engine speeds, while longer systems favour the low rpm range, resulting in better acceleration.

Exhausts for every level and many models

The exhaust is probably the most popular tuning component for two-wheelers, and for many riders purchasing a tuning exhaust marks the beginning of a long journey towards their perfect custom bike. Almost all leading brands such as

offer exhausts for many engine types and different tuning levels at an excellent price-performance ratio.

OEM quality exhaust are identical in performance, shape and look to the stock systems and are easily replaced. These systems are relatively quiet, street-legal and perfectly complement the original cylinder. Manufacturers like LeoVince and Sito have specialized in this area, they produce great OEM quality exhausts at low prices.

We offer many entry-level tuning exhausts (Sport) that are more efficient than the original pipes and increase power increase, they are perfect for 50cc or 70cc sport and midrace kits. They often come in different finishes, with a clear coat or chrome plated to give your scooter a certain custom look.

Racing and high-end exhausts are not road-legal and can only be used on private grounds, racetracks and events. Some of them are incredibly powerful and are suitable for heavily tuned 70cc to 90cc cylinder kits. The top models are often weight-reduced and sometimes available in chrome, but most of them are sold with a classic racing finish which means thy don't have any coating.

You should always consider the entire setup when choosing the exhaust, the exhaust should fit the cylinder and complement it to achieve maximum power.
