Aprilia SR 50 Racing LC (Aprilia/Morini Engine) – General Information
Introduced in 1992, the Aprilia SR 50 quickly became one of the flagship models for the Italian brand. Its sporty design was directly inspired by Grand Prix machines and looked extremely modern for its time. Over the years, the model range was constantly developed. The Racing version brought several upgrades over the standard model to provide a significantly sportier riding experience.
Optimizations included a transmission with a long-stroke configuration, a more aggressive ramp plate, and stiffer clutch springs for better acceleration. Additionally, the carburetor settings were optimized to the limit of legal regulations. Visually, sporty graphics with MotoGP designs emphasized the racing character of the scooter.
Between 2000 and 2003, the SR 50 Racing was equipped with the Aprilia/Morini engine, marking a transition phase in the model's history. This version featured specific components such as a 12 mm Keihin carburetor.
This variant is somewhat more demanding when searching for spare parts, as there are fewer components available compared to other SR 50 engines. It is also not considered the best in terms of reliability and tuning potential. This only changed from 2003 onwards with the switch to the Piaggio engine, which is known for its robustness and the huge selection of tuning parts.
