The engine spring stabilizes the engine and, most importantly, keeps the drive belt properly tensioned. On variator systems like those in mopeds, the pulley diameter stays constant while the engine tilts slightly backward – the spring ensures everything stays in place. Also suitable for higher-revving engines.
