The two-layer air filter combines a coarse, open-cell foam layer that traps dirt and sand with a finer inner layer that retains the smallest particles without restricting airflow. Unlike other two-piece designs, the two layers are firmly bonded together, preventing dirt from settling in between. Effective filtration is crucial, as even the smallest particles can cause significant engine damage.

how do you maintain an air filter?

There are a few steps to follow to maintain the filter after intensive motocross use:

1. Remove the dirty air filter
2. Clean the air filter box and ensure that there is no dirt behind the filter
3. Separate the air filter from the holder
4. Clean the filter with a special air filter cleaner (do not use petrol)
5. Clean the filter holder
6. Moisten the filter with special filter oil once it is completely dry
7. Replace the filter in the holder
8. Apply multi-purpose grease to the edge of the filter (on the contact surface with the air filter box to form a seal)
9. Insert the filter back into the air filter box
