Motocross handlebars: 50 to 500cc, choose wisely!

In the 50cc world, where supermotard and enduro bikes are legion, cross-type handlebars are generally used. Of course, sportbike owners will also find handlebars to suit their machines.

We work with well-known brands such as Renthal, Scar, Neken, Stage6, STR8 and KRM to provide you with quality equipment.

Handlebars are universal, but there are a few criteria to bear in mind when making the right choice. We'll give you a few details below.

Handlebars for your bike

Mounting diameter

When choosing your handlebars, the first thing to look at is their mounting diameter. Some bikes are designed to accept a 28.6mm fatbar. Others, often older, are designed for 22.2mm handlebars. If you'd like to mount a 28mm fatbar on your original 22mm bike, you'll simply need the right diameter bridges.

We offer universal bridges and specific bridges for Yamaha, Kawasaki, KTM, Honda or Suzuki.

Useful note: universal clamps raise the handlebar by around 15 to 20mm!

On motorcycles designed for children with small arms, it's imperative to opt for adapted handlebars! Handlebars on mini bikes (e.g. 50 SX, KX 65, YZ 85...) are narrower (between 700 and 770mm) than on adult bikes (generally 800 to 815mm).

This makes it easier for smaller riders to control their bikes.

Handlebars to suit your size

Not everyone can use the same handlebars to feel comfortable while riding. While curvature is a matter of taste, height is a matter of control. As a general rule :

  • The taller you are, the higher the handlebars are recommended to avoid back pain and an unbalanced riding position
  • The shorter you are, the lower the handlebars should be. This will help you dominate the front of the bike and find grip on the front end

Of course, it may take a few tries to find what you're looking for. When you change discipline, you may even prefer a higher handlebar than a lower one.
